Memory Walk

The Alzheimer's Association's annual Memory Walk will take place on September 21, 2008 at 2pm at Applebee's Park on North Broadway. Nearly 1500 people across Central and Eastern Kentucky are expected to participate in this year's event to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease.
The Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk, nationally presented by Genworth Financial, and is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research programs. Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, this inspiring event calls on volunteers of all ages to become Champions in the fight against Alzheimer's. Champions include those living with the disease, families, caregivers, and corporate and community leaders. Americans who have participated in these walks have raised more than $200 million.

The Richmond Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce that the 8 Annual Kids Fest will be held Saturday, September 6 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday September 7 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Irvine McDowell Park. This free public event will feature several activities that will provide fun for the whole family! Activities will include: Inflatable play equipment, face painting, games and prizes, walk around characters, a petting zoo with $3 pony rides, and stage show acts. Stage shows will get under way on Saturday starting at 10:00 am, and will feature: The Wulfe Brothers, The Space Painter, Warren the Wizard, Lee Dean Ventriloquist and Kricket Puppet Show, Birds of Prey, and the Richard McHargue Cloggers. The Squallis Puppeteers will kick off the stage entertainment on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Be sure to catch KY Retile Zoo and Mark Comley’s magic show. EXCEPTIONAL ART, MUSIC, WINE AND FOOD PLANNED FOR RISING SUN FESTIVAL OF FINE ARTS & CRAFTS

More than 80 artists from around the country will be in Rising Sun, Indiana, September 13 and 14, for the first annual Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts. This juried festival of exceptional fine art and fine crafts, jewelry, pottery, handcrafted furniture, and musical instruments will be held in Rising Sun's historic Main Street District along the Ohio River.
The Festival is planned for 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14. There is no admission fee and parking will be free on the streets, and in businesses and lots throughout the city.
To complement the beautiful art, the Festival will feature three Indiana wineries - Carousel Winery from Bedford, Buck Creek Winery from Indianapolis, and Thomas Family Winery from Madison - offering samples from Indiana's excellent vineyards. Jamon Zeiler, a Rising Sun musician and master guitar-builder, has arranged for eight different acts to provide acoustic music throughout the Festival weekend. Food will be provided by Caleco Gourmet Concessions.
Rising Sun is one of Indiana's most beautiful riverfront towns. Art Calendar magazine includes it as one of the ten best towns in America for working artists and Rising Sun Main Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Festival visitors are invited to experience the unique ambiance and hospitality of Rising Sun enjoying the art and meeting the artists while taking a leisurely stroll through the town's flowered Main Street and scenic riverfront park.

The Rockhounds of Central Kentucky will host their
18th annual show on Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm and on

The show will feature mineral, jewelry, and
equipment dealers; club sales, demonstrations, and exhibits; silent auctions;

blacklight display. The grand door prize drawing will be at 5:00 pm on Sunday
and you do not have to be present to win.
